I am a lifelong resident, former teacher and parent in SD62. From a young age, I have been involved in our community by participating and volunteering in minor sports, non-profit and charitable organizations. I also served as a B.C. Public Servant for over 25 years, working for various Crown Corporations and Ministries; including the Ministry of Education. I recently formed my own technology and management consulting company, providing service transformation planning and advisory services within large scale, complex organizations.
I am passionate about developing lifelong learners and skills that will allow our students to succeed and thrive in today's society. I believe in cultivating lifelong learners by providing safe, inclusive, diverse and innovative learning environments, where all students have the opportunity to thrive and achieve their potential.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling, hiking, golfing, reading, playing and/or watching soccer and football.
I am proud to have been born and raised in this community, where over 4 generations of my family have lived, worked, been educated and volunteered in our community. I care deeply about public education and ensuring SD62 is prepared to meet the challenges and expectations of our growing community.
Through my volunteer work and as a public servant, I understand that delivering education programs and services can be complex and 'takes a village'. Building and maintaining community partnerships by listening, learning and engaging in a positive, respectful and collaborative manner -- is at the heart of my core values. I am proud of the many relationships and partnerships I have established within our local community and across the education and technology sectors in B.C.
I would be honoured to put my experienced leadership to work to serve our community and the students, families and staff of SD62.
I am committed to ensuring safe, inclusive, diverse and innovative educational programs, services and learning spaces for all students. I look forward to leveraging my experiences as a former teacher, pre-school and youth program instructor. Also, with over 25 years of leading and/or supporting the delivery of provincial programs and services, including K-12 services which served students, families and staff across B.C., I have significant experience leading and implementing change and continuous improvement in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Through my work and volunteer experiences, I understand and appreciate the importance of teamwork and developing collaborative relationships and partnerships. I will continue to leverage these experiences and connections to help build, maintain and continuously improve education programs, services and learning spaces in our community.
I wish to acknowledge the traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations. I also acknowledge the Sooke School District works with the S'cianew, T'Sou-ke and Pacheedaht Nations.
